Earlier this year, Takashima Saburo Sensei 5th Dan honoured once again Sei Shin Kan Yoshinkan Aikido Academy Malta and conducted a 15-day training seminar together with Raymond Cutajar Sensei who is the head instructor of the Yoshinkan Aikido Academy in Malta.
Sei Shin Kan Yoshinkan Aikido Academy is a member of the Malta Judo Federation and Associated Arts and affiliated with the International Yoshinkan Aikido Federation in Japan,
At the beginning of the seminar, Takashima Sensei, who is a frequent visitor to our island, presented the new Black Belts namely, Carmel Attard, Paul Cassar, Neville Paris, Godwin Aguis, Alan Genuis and Joe Rivans with the official Shodan Certificate from Hombu Dojo in Japan.
These newly certified Black Belts are now officially on the Yudansha list of the International Yoshinkan Aikido Federation of Japan.
Takashima Sensei presented Raymond Cutajar Sensei with a Bushi (means ‘Warrior’) personally handwritten in Kenji by the Grandmaster Inoue Sensei in recognition for Cutajar Sensei’s hard work and achievements in Yoshinkan Aikido in Malta.
Towards the end of the seminar, students and instructors performed an astounding demonstration together. Two other instructors from Japan, who are frequent visitors to the Dojo, also honoured Sei Shin Kan Aikido Academy. Yoko Omura Sensei and Mike Reeves Sensei spent December and January training together with the Maltese Aikidokas.
Yoshinkan Aikido, is described as ‘The Art of Peace’ by Takashima Sensei and praised Raymond Cutajar Sensei on his achievement and hard work in building Yoshinkan Aikido to the highest level, especially in a small island like Malta.
