Malta Independent Tuesday, 20 February 2007, 00:00 Last update: about 21 years ago

MCAST students reading for a Higher National Diploma in IT have been offered on-the-job vocational training by Maltacom, which is giving them the opportunity to acquire hands-on experience while working with its cutting-edge, state-of-the-art telecom solutions.

During their two-week visit, the students are receiving structured, on-the-job training in various areas of Maltacom’s packet-based infrastructure – which is the result of the company’s Next Generation Softswitch upgrade providing for the roll-out of next generation services.

The Maltacom Group has always enjoyed a healthy and proactive relationship with MCAST. Besides this two-week familiarisation visit for IT diploma students, the company takes on MCAST students as part of the national Summer Worker Scheme. Furthermore, Maltacom currently sponsors 11 students through a three-year course of studies under the Technical Apprenticeship Scheme.

The Maltacom Group has also always availed itself of MCAST professional training services in various skills, including call-centre functions for potential Dial It employees, customer-care courses for Maltanet employees, Business English and Maltese, as well as Finance for non-finance people.
