Archbishop Emeritus Joseph Mercieca and Gozo Bishop Mario Grech will attend the Consistory of Cardinals called by Pope Benedict XVI for Friday.
During the consistory, the cardinals will give their views over the canonisation of five blessed, including Maltese prelate Dun Gorg Preca, who founded the Society of Christian Doctrine, MUSEUM.
The society’s leaders and the archdiocese’s judicial vicar, Mgr Arthur Said Pullicino will also be attending the consistory.
Archbishop Paul Cremona, OP, ordered that all churches are to sound their bells for 15 minutes starting at noon on the day, while all churches should illuminate their façades in the evening.
He also gave permission for priests to celebrate the Dun Gorg Preca votive mass on Friday.
A Curia circular said it would be fitting that tomorrow or on Friday, adorations should be held as thanksgiving to God, when prayers of Dun Gorg should also be said.
