Pro-Family Forum To be set up

Malta Independent Thursday, 22 February 2007, 00:00 Last update: about 14 years ago

A Pro-Family Forum will be launched by the National Family Commission on Monday. This forum, to be made up of voluntary organisations which are active in family life, aims to strengthen “civil society’s voice” in matters related to the family.

A Department of Information statement said the forum will be completely independent of the commission and of the government. It will regulate itself and the commission will only help in administrative matters.

The commission is taking this step because it believes civil society should be present in an organised way to help strengthen family values. Some 25 voluntary organisations have already expressed their intention to join the forum.

Anyone wishing to join is asked to attend the forum’s first meeting on Monday at 4pm at the Social Action Centre, Santa Venera. More information can be obtained by calling Denise Camilleri on 2148-116/7/8 or by sending an e-mail at [email protected].
