I refer to the article Odds and Ends (TMID, 19 February), which read as follows: “The stretch of Triq San Frangisk lying between Triq il-Kbira and Triq Birbal, in Balzan, is short and it is one-way. Motorists can turn into it from Triq Birbal to come across, at the Triq il-Kbira end, a school hours traffic sign, banning traffic between 7 and 8.30am, for one. What are motorists to do if they turn into Triq San Frangisk – wait until 8.30am, before they proceed, or back up, wrong way, and risk a car ramming into them from the back? Surely there should also be an identical school hours traffic sign, and a ‘no left turn’ sign with it, in Triq Birbal. As it is, everyone ignores the school hours traffic sign and drives on, endangering school children.”

I personally went on site to check on the complaint and the only sign which indicated “hours” is a “No Waiting” sign which indicates that drivers should not park in the street. Drivers including parents can pass through the street to drop off their children but they cannot park. The scenario mentioned in the article does not exist.
