The game got off to a fast and aggressive start as both teams sought to establish an early lead, which eventually went to Aloysians Prominent. Kavallieri responded soon after with a strengthened defence holding off Aloysians Prominent attacks.
With some impressive shots of their own Kavallieri managed to almost even the score to close the first half with at 11-12 but Aloysians Prominent maintained their lead.
At the start of the second half, some unfortunate near misses and an unyielding Kavallieri keeper, held Aloysians Prominent back from the all out play that they needed to stop Kavallieri taking the advantage.
Both teams battled for the lead until five consecutive goals by Kavallieri, four of which by Orlando Bonnici, give them a comfortable advantage of 19-15.
At this point a time-out for Aloysians Prominent brought them back into the game with some more determined and successful shots at goal.
Nevertheless, Kavallieri were able to stay well ahead of Aloysians right to the end.
Both the above matches were refereed by Clyde Borg Conti and Thomas Degiorgio.
Women’s League
A well matched game as both teams play hard for possession and shots at goal, but Ta’ Xbiex ASC establish a more dominant grasp of the match with D6 struggling to make successes of their shots.
Ta’ Xbiex ASC easily exploited weak points in D6’s attack to intercept passes and repeatedly regain possession before a shot is attempted.
When D6 resumed play after a time-out in the 18th minute they effectively tripled their score in the remaining 10 minutes of that half, but still trailed by three points at half time with a score of 6-9
In the second half D6 defended tightly and effectively against Ta’ Xbiex ASC top scorer in the first half, Natasha Celic.
However even with their team captain being closely marked, Ta’ Xbiex ASC immediately re-established a comfortable lead. Under this pressure from D6, Davida Degiorgio managed some strong goals helping to keep Ta’ Xbiex ASC in the lead as D6 tried hard to narrow the gap.
