A considerable amount of cash was stolen in a daring daylight robbery from the Austria Tabak factory at the San Gwann industrial estate yesterday.
The police said that at 1.30pm, as employees of “a company” at the estate were entering the factory to collect money that had to be deposited at the bank later, three hooded men, one of whom was armed with a firearm, barged into the premises demanding money.
The police said the three men made off with a considerable amount of money, making their getaway in a car that had been parked nearby.
Magistrate Anthony Vella appointed several experts to help him in the inquiry.
Police investigations are still ongoing.
