A Fresh visual identity for Malta’s arts council

Malta Independent Sunday, 25 February 2007, 00:00 Last update: about 14 years ago

The Malta Council for Culture and the Arts unveiled its new visual identity during a press conference held at the Ministry for Tourism and Culture. Designed by Gattaldo, a Maltese creative and art director based in the UK, the new logo is a new way to identify and present the Arts Council and its role in Maltese society.

The new logo clearly shows that MCCA is moving forward. It portrays the windmill symbol signifying movement and a constant flow of ideas. Today, MCCA communicates a breath of fresh air to the cultural scene. The selected design has been chosen to give the visual representation of what MCCA stands for.

The windmill, a familiar part of the Maltese traditional landscape and heritage, represents energy, creativity, innovation and continuity. It is directly related to the Maltese economic development through the centuries by providing water – probably the most basic source of life in the Maltese environment.
