The traditional People’s Sunday (Hadd in-Nies) pilgrimage will be held at Zabbar today. The pilgrimage, which will be led by Archbishop Paul Cremona, leaves the newly-built Nazareth Centre, at the Zabbar housing estate, at 4.30pm. The parishes of Fgura and Marsascala will take part in the pilgrimage.
Mgr Cremona will officially inaugurate the Centru Nazaret at 10.30am this morning. This will be followed by a gathering for the parish clergy and later in the afternoon the archbishop will meet children before the pilgrimage starts.
The archbishop will celebrate Mass at the Our Lady of Graces parish church, at the end of the pilgrimage, at about 5.30pm.
The Hadd in-Nies pilgrimage has its roots in the times of the knights when devotees from all over Malta used to pray and make vows to Our Lady on the first Sunday in Lent.
