Malta’s Masters team comprising Tony Mifsud and Frans Mintoff lost the final against Wales yesterday at the European Team Championships.

The Welsh team included one time professional Darren Morgan.

It was the first and only defeat at the tournament which saw them winning Group A, then winning their quarter-final and semi-final matches.

The frame scores in the final went as follows (Wales first): 57(47)-27; 61(36)-22; 101(101)-1; 35-61; 62-27; 1-54; 88(88)-20; 63(32)-49; 55-39; 31-65(43).

Meanwhile, the national team had to be content with eighth place after losing the 7/8 place match to Wales 4-10.
