‘World Youth Day’ Account

Malta Independent Sunday, 4 March 2007, 00:00 Last update: about 12 years ago

APS Bank, in collaboration with Kummissjoni Djocesana Zghazagh, has launched the APS Bank “World Youth Day” Account.

This special account provides an incentive for all young people between the ages of 18 and 30 to save enough money to enable them to meet Pope Benedict XVI and thousands of other young people from all around the globe in July next year in Sydney, Australia.

WYD is a pilgrimage of young people and a festival of encounter and solidarity. The Pope’s invitation is directed to young people from all over the world to join him in a specified city for this celebration of faith. Following WYD in 2005 in Cologne, Germany, where some 600 young Maltese people were among the hundreds of thousands of participants, KDZ is wanting to encourage young people to take up this opportunity and travel to Australia in 2008.

The overall purpose of this account, therefore, is to help young people to put aside funds to participate in World Youth Day. Among other benefits, any young person opening an APS Bank “World Youth Day” Account will benefit from higher savings rates and a mean rate of exchange when converting money into Australia Dollars.

Further details of the APS Bank “World Youth Day” Account are available from the bank’s website www.apsbank.com.mt or by calling at any the bank’s branches.
