Brass Concert at St James Cavalier

The Windmill Brass Ensemble will perform at the next Lunchtime Concert, being held on Wednesday. The concert, organised by the Malta Council for Culture and the Arts, will take place in the Music Room at St James Cavalier Centre for Creativity in Valletta.

The performance starts at 12.30pm and lasts approximately 30 minutes. Tickets at Lm1 and 50c each for children under 12 and persons over 60 can be purchased from the Booking Office at St James Cavalier Centre for Creativity, Valletta, Tel: 2122 3200.

The Windmill Brass Ensemble will be performing a variety of classical compositions for brass instruments. These include Pitoni’s Cantante Domino, Canzon for brass by Samuel Scheidt, Marcello’s Suite including I Allegro, II Largo, III Allegro, Dornell’s Allegro, Rondo by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, Strauss’s Sangerlust Polka, Ronde by Ravel, Gershwin’s I Got Rhythm, and Flying Carpet by Tomas Dunker.

The Windmill Brass Ensemble is made up of four members: Andre and Merryn Helleur (trumpets), Shirley Helleur (tenor horn), and Clayton Vella (baritone). Together they have produced a diverse repertoire, from Renaissance to Modern music. The Helleur family moved from England to Malta in 2005.
