Leading website findit.com.mt has launched a week-long charity drive to raise money for the Noah’s Ark Animal Sanctuary.
The campaign, which started yesterday and runs until Sunday, will see the information website donate e0.01 towards dog food for every unique visitor who logs on to the site over the seven-day period.
At the end of the week, the money raised will be used to purchase dog food for Noah’s Ark, which currently feeds and cares for more than 100 stray and abandoned dogs at its Paradise Bay base.
The campaign is being supported by Iams dog food, which will double the amount of food purchased by findit.com.mt.
Wesley Ellul, website general manager, explained that the aim was to give something back following the massive success enjoyed by findit since its launch last August.
“We have been overwhelmed by the success of the website which now has hundreds of regular users. As our mascot is a dog – Fiver the Dalmatian – we thought it would be nice to use our success to raise money for less fortunate dogs,” Mr Ellul said.
Noah’s Ark founder Fabio Ciappara has welcomed the move to help raise constantly-needed supplies for their dogs.
“We are extremely thankful that findit has decided to do this for us. It costs a lot of money to look after all the dogs we have and every bit helps. Hopefully thousands of people will log on to the website during the week,” he said.
The local representative for Iams, Antonio Satariano said: “This is a unique way for people to help out.
It does not cost them anything to log on to findit but it will certainly help the dogs at the Noah’s Ark sanctuary. We are happy to match whatever findit raises with additional dog food.”
Findit is a fully searchable website containing information on more than a thousand local businesses ranging from beauty salons to hotels and from construction companies to private investigators.
Since its launch in August last year, it has provided information to people who have logged on from all round the world.
