Zebbug Group Marks Scouting’s centenary

Malta Independent Saturday, 10 March 2007, 00:00 Last update: about 14 years ago

On Saturday, 24 February, Zebbug Scout Group commenced its celebrations to mark 100 years of scouting by planting an olive tree (olea europaea) in Mdina Road next to the kalkara tal gir in the same area.

The tree was planted by Group Scout Leader Raymond Spiteri Binett, in collaboration with the 34U campaign. Attending the event were the children and leaders of the Zebbug Scout Group. The village of Zebbug derives its name from the produce of the same tree, which is also the world-wide symbol of peace, and which is also in line with the scouting ideals and the motto chosen by the World Organisation of the Scout Movement for the 100th Year Anniversary: ONE WORLD….ONE PROMISE.
