Malta Independent Sunday, 11 March 2007, 00:00 Last update: about 20 years ago

The Malta Society of Model Makers is organising an exhibition of a vast range of model ships, warplanes and tanks of various sizes.

The models will be on display at the Catholic Institute, Floriana from Friday to Monday 19 March from 9.30am to 8pm.

This year, more than 300 models are being exhibited; these range from standard model kits to very complex and elaborate scratch built radio controlled model boats. Included with the various new models are three new radio controlled model boats.

These are the C27 and the C38, which are the ex-patrol boats of the Malta Maritime Squadron, and the P61 “Diciotto Class”, which is the latest and most modern patrol boat in the maritime squadron.

The P61 model boat, apart from being radio controlled, is fully loaded with electronic circuitry controlling several functions such as radar, inboard lights, and so on.
