Commonwealth Day was marked at Westminster Abbey in London yesterday, at a ceremony presided over by the Queen, at which Malta was represented by Foreign Minister Michael Frendo.
Malta is currently the chair-in-office of the Commonwealth.
Commonwealth Day is celebrated annually on the second Monday in March. The theme this year was Respecting Differences – Promoting Agreement.
The Commonwealth is made up of 53 countries which have almost two billion people, or almost a third of the world’s population.
