Swedish Day At the ETC

Malta Independent Thursday, 15 March 2007, 00:00 Last update: about 13 years ago

The Employment and Training Corporation (ETC) has invited to Malta a EURES advisor from Sweden for the Swedish Day. During this first-time event, the general public had a chance to get the necessary information on the current employment opportunities in Sweden, where unemployment is at four per cent.

EURES’s purpose is to provide information and advice to workers and employers wishing to benefit from the principle of the free movement of persons. The EURES network is spread in 31 European countries and has more than 700 advisors.

EURES Office in Malta, set up in May 2004, is managed by the Employment and Training Corporation and has a manager and four advisors. It has so far assisted thousands of persons who were interested in working in a European country.

The Swedish Day is part of a series of events organised by the corporation as part of its programme of activities. On 30 and 31 March, EURES Malta will be holding its Annual Job Fair at the Le Meridien Phoenicia Hotel in Floriana where EURES advisors from 11 countries will promote workers’ mobility to their countries.

Those people who are interested in knowing more about employment opportunities in Sweden or in any other European country, are invited contact the EURES team at the ETC at [email protected] or on 2220-1203. The local EURES office is at the ETC Head Office in Hal Far and is open for public from Monday to Friday between 8am and noon.
