Reference is made to the article Police appeal for the annulment of a magistrate’s court decision regarding 28 lap dancers (TMID, 10 March).

In the article it is stated that “Police authorities have filed an application of appeal...”, that “In the application, police authorities claim...” and other similar expressions which erroneously attribute to the police a number of statements contained in the appeal application in question.

Please note that the application of appeal to which reference is made in your article was filed by the Attorney General and the decision to seek the revocation of the judgement of the Magistrates’ Court was taken exclusively by my office.

According to the Constitution, in such matters the Attorney General is not subject to the direction or control of any other person or authority.
