Exams For executive officers

Malta Independent Friday, 16 March 2007, 00:00 Last update: about 13 years ago

The Union Haddiema Maghqudin (UHM) reached an agreement with the Management and Personnel Office (MPO) of the Office of the Prime Minister on holding examinations for executive officer posts in June.

The agreement stipulates how a number of vacancies at executive officer level in the public service should be filled.

The union had been asking the MPO to hold examinations for the posts in order to give an opportunity to clerks to advance in their careers. Earlier this year, a committee was set up during the UHM general meeting of clerks. The committee was to oversee how clerks could further their careers.

Examinations consist of written tests in Maltese and English and an interview. The grade of Executive Official starts at scale 14 and progresses to scale 13, which is a gradual rise from a yearly wage of Lm4,830 to Lm5,700.

The UHM civil servants section will be offering preparatory courses for interested candidates.
