Among the many useful and innovative well-made products produced by this year’s Young Enterprise (YE) companies, Mikiel, the Agenda Kids Club’s mascot, spotted an all-purpose play-mat during his visit to the HSBC Young Enterprise National Trade Fair held at City Gate, Valletta.
Created by a group of students from Junior College who form the Young Enterprise company called “Exclusive”, the Mat in a Box play-mat is convenient and safe for children to play on. It has multiple uses as it also folds up into a storage box for toys, books or any other items.
Mat in a Box is mounted on a polished base of light wood, padded with soft foam and covered with durable material for children to play on. When folded into a box, the wood panels are on the exterior and to ensure total safety, the edges are rounded off to prevent any accidents that may occur to children due to sharp edges. The exterior of the box is colourfully designed with non-toxic paint and stencilled with various motifs for children to enjoy.
Mikiel will be using these play-mats during the Agenda Kids Club sessions at the various Agenda Bookshop outlets. “We have taken care of all the safety standards necessary to put parents’ minds at rest,” said Stuart Firman, managing director of Exclusive. “We are pleased that our new product will be used and enjoyed by members of the Agenda Kids Club.”
“At Agenda we believe in the potential and education of Maltese students. The annual Young Enterprise Trade Fair is a good opportunity for students to show off their business, innovative products and various talents. The chosen play-mats have already been put to use and we found them very convenient for our young members to sit on, and while not in use, we use them to store our children’s reading books,” said Rachelle Tabone, marketing executive for Agenda Bookshop. Children who become members of the Agenda Kids Club are entitled to discounts on children’s books, apart from being given free goodies upon registration.
The Agenda Kids Club invites parents wishing to sign their children up to the Kids Club to visit any of the Agenda Bookshop outlets.
