The Tarxien Parish in collaboration with the Ghaqda Kultura u Armar Marija Annunzjata will be presenting a concert of sacred music entitled Crux Fidelis on Sunday 25 March at 7.30p.m.

This concert is being organised as part of the celebrations to mark the 225th anniversary of the solemn consecration of the parish church, way back on 9 May 1782 by Bishop Vincenzo Labini.

Crux Fidelis will be held under the patronage of Mgr Joseph Mercieca, Archbishop Emeritus of Malta, and the Rev. Anton Zammit, who is commemorating his 60th anniversary of his ordination.

Three choirs will be performing: the Tarxien Parish Choir Magnificat under the direction of Bernard Piscopo, Qormi’s Exultate Domino under the direction of Angelica Xuereb and the New Choral Singers under the direction of Robert Calleja.

The concert will also host poets Peter Caruana, Raymond Mahoney and Alfred Massa while Rev. Jesmond Manicaro and Mr Joe G. Debono will be delivering a short explanation about the rite of consecration and the history which lead to the consecration of the church 225 years ago.

The concert is open to the public. Entrance to the concert is free of charge. However, a retiring collection will be made after the concert and all proceeds raised will be in aid of the conservation project of the parish church’s dome.

Members of the general public are cordially invited to be seated by 7.20pm.
