Opposition Leader Alfred Sant paid a visit to Gozo on Monday, and visited the six localities that went to the polls in the local elections on 10 March.
During his visit, Dr Sant thanked all the Gozitans for the support they had showed his party in the vote.
He also paid a visit to the MLP’s Victoria centre, where he was presented with Lm7,100 in donations for the MLP’s fund-raising marathon that was held on Monday and raised a total of Lm68,077.
Dr Sant said it was clear from the number of votes that the party had won in Gozo, that the MLP was gaining support. He also thanked the people of Gozo for their generosity in donating to the party.
The Opposition Leader said the MLP wanted to make a difference and improve the quality of life of Maltese and Gozitan families. He again cited the party motto: “Jobs, protection and dignity”.
He thanked all the elected councillors and mayors and also those who had contested the elections but failed to be elected.
MPs Anton Refalo and Justyne Caruana, both from Gozo, said the result of the elections, as well as the sum of money raised, showed that support for the MLP in Gozo was increasing.
