The death was announced yesterday morning of former Floriana and Malta star striker Pullu Demanuele, better known in the 1950s and early 1960s as Il-Koku.

He was one of several Floriana players who dazzled large crowds at the old Gzira Stadium with some delightful touches that included great left foot shots, great runs down the left flank and also some great goals.

He was considered as one of the best players ever produced by Maltese football. He was exemplary both on and off the field of play. He was also a role model for all those who followed in his footsteps.

He was so keen on the game and especially the Floriana club, that he followed them till just a few days ago.

Demanuele will be remembered for long at Floriana. He joins the list of legendary Maltese footballers.
