A man who is facing criminal proceedings in connection with the importation of seven kilograms of heroin in June 2005 was granted bail against a deposit of Lm7,000 and a personal guarantee of Lm2,000.
Silvio Buttigieg, 32, from Cospicua, is being accused of conspiring to import heroin into Malta, importing seven kilograms of heroin, trafficking the drug and possessing it.
Magistrate Giovanni Grixti yesterday upheld a request for bail against a deposit of Lm7,000 and a personal guarantee of Lm2,000.
Police Inspector Norbert Ciappara and Dennis Theuma are prosecuting.
