At this time of reflection prior to Holy Week, the Malta Labour Party Club Msida will once again take the initiative, together with a number of Msida associations including our friends from the Nationalist Party, to show solidarity and collect funds in aid of the Daniel Delicata Memorial Associa-tion and the Malta Hospice Movement. For the fourth consecutive year, we will also be working to raise awareness of the Transplant Support Group.

Half of the funds raised are to be used to continue the refurbishment of the YPU-the Children/Youth unit in Mount Carmel Hospital. This refurbishment is being supported with the funds collected by the Daniel Delicata Memorial Association. This unit can take up to 14 boys and girls. The remaining half of the money collected will go to the Malta Hospice Movement – a voluntary organisation that provides specialised support to cancer patients and their families.

For the fifth year, the major feature of this initiative will be the Good Friday exhibition, which will be open to the public from Thursday, 29 March to Saturday, 7 April. Although the exhibition is held in the MLP club, the sense of solidarity and altruism is reflected to such an extent that various individuals leave behind political beliefs to participate wholeheartedly in the setting up of this annual event.

This year’s exhibition will feature a good number of new exhibits, including an excellent bottle exhibition, work in ganutell, statues, paintings and work of art by renowned Maltese artist Ganni Pace.

Anyone who visits the exhibition can voluntarily donate money to the Daniel Delicata Memorial Association and the Malta Hospice Movement and will also be able to complete a donor form of the Transplant Support Group. No admission fee will be charged and parking is available next to the club, as well as near the Workers Monument.

The focal point of this initiative will be a Walk of Hope and Solidarity, which will take place on Monday, 2 April at 6pm. Our meeting point will be the Msida Primary School (near to the lotto booth). From there the united Msida associations and clubs will follow the Holy Cross and proceed to Msida parish church where the parish priest will concelebrate a special “animated” Holy Mass for the occasion. We would like to take this opportunity to invite all the Misidjani to join us for this solidarity walk and the Holy Mass. At the end of the Mass, the Msida associations and individuals will be invited to donate money to this worthy cause.

We would like to take this opportunity to ask you to support us. Your small financial contribution will help the children at YPU-Mount Carmel, and all those stricken with cancer, to have an enhanced quality of life. We have done our part. Msida Flimkien combines unity, solidarity, altruism and

tradition.
