Justice and Home Affairs Minister Tonio Borg has concluded a working visit to Australia with various meetings with Maltese communities in Sydney. He met Salesian former pupils and attended a Mass celebrated by Fr Tarcisio Micallef in Blacktown. He also met Maltese people at the Hamrun Club in Marsden Park, as well as at St Dominic’s Hostel, an old people’s home in Blacktown.

During his visit to Australia, Dr Borg held meetings with the Council of Maltese Communities in New South Wales, which thanked the government for the reforms on second generation citizenship.

He was interviewed by Antoine Said Pullicino on SBN Radio and was also interviewed for the Maltese newspaper in Australia, The Maltese Herald.

In Pender Hill, where the Maltese community is numerous, Dr Borg, together with Holroyd City mayor John Brodie, placed a wreath at the foot of a monument for Maltese emigrants.

At a school for the Maltese language in Seven Hills, Dr Borg attended lessons in the Maltese language and later distributed a number of books and CDs.
