Collectively they have accumulated enough musical experience – both home and abroad – to be referred to as veterans of the Maltese music scene, but as a trio, Sixth Symfoni may be relatively new to some. Having worked together on sporadic collaborations in the past, members Pen_Demonium (ex-IQ), D Legacy (ex-Sanitarium) and prolific violinist Simon Vella gradually discovered they shared a similar musical vision. Armed with a broad spectrum of influences and personal inspirations, they formed Sixth Symfoni with the aim of making what they like to call “real music with real emotion”.
Although Sixth Symfoni’s gave their first public performance at the Pristine @ Poxx bar event last December, their first performance proper will take place this Saturday, 31 March as part of the Live @ Luxol series of concerts. The headlining performance, which will feature guest singers Jay Omaro, Baresine, Carrie, Rachel Fabri, Claire Cordina and tenor Nicky Agius Darmanin as well as the multi-talented Niki Gravino, will not only reveal Sixth Symfoni’s innovative take on hip-hop to the fullest, but will also double as a launch for their new EP, which features popular radio singles Breakthru and St Passive.
At the end of May, Sixth Symfoni will also be travelling to France following an invitation to perform at the popular Europavox Festival. This four-day event features Europe’s foremost independent talent and attracts industry professionals and thousands of music fans.
