There are three top foreign personnel at Malta Shipyards, Investments, Industry and IT Minister Austin Gatt informed Labour MP Chris Agius. They are: Chris Bell, chief executive officer; David Kahlbon, production executive; and John Cox, project executive. Minister Gatt refused to answer what salary scales these three persons have as well as questions regarding their experience and qualifications due to data protection concerns. He assured Mr Agius their qualifications were checked during the interviews that were carried out prior to their engagement. Mr Agius also asked why Malta Shipyards workers were informed by means of a circular of the possibility of work on shift basis from 7am to 7pm and from 7pm to 7am. Dr Gatt said the reason behind the letter was concerns about productivity so as to hasten work on a steel job on one of the projects at the shipyard at present.

181 SOLAR HEATER REBATES IN A YEAR

There were in all 181 rebates given out on solar heaters last year, Minister Gatt informed Mr Agius.

NO REPORTS ON JUNK FOOD BEING SOLD TO SCHOOLCHILDREN

There was no report during the past scholastic year that any school sold food or drink items that are considered unfit for children, Education Minister Louis Galea told Labour MP Carmelo Abela. And in a further reply to Mr Abela, Dr Galea said it is not the duty of schools to classify those students who are obese.
