Fees for counselling services for children in Church homes will be partly supported by the HSBC Cares for Children Fund (HCCF). Over the past four years, over Lm15,000 has been donated towards this by the fund. This year, HCCF will be contributing a further Lm5,000.

Besides offering shelter and long-term care to children, the homes are committed to help the children overcome psychological difficulties. For most, the trauma of separation is felt profoundly. For others, complex social problems offer additional challenges, resulting in compounded difficulties. Most of the children in these homes attend individual sessions to help improve their skills on an individual basis. In other instances, the children participate in group sessions like drama therapy.

“Over the past four years, the HSBC Cares For Children Fund has helped to improve the quality of the Church homes – however, the provision of counselling services is equally important for children in these circumstances,” said the chairperson of the fund, Mrs Catherine Gonzi during her visit to the central office of Ejjew Ghandi children’s homes.
