A woman was fined Lm100 yesterday, after a Court of Criminal Appeal revoked a judgement handed down by a Magistrates’ Court last December, when she was cleared of making false allegations and offending a civil servant employed at the Office of the Prime Minister.

Last June, OPM employee Robert Cutajar filed a police report against Triza Grima, 21, from Xghajra, Zabbar, who was claiming that he had received money to find her boyfriend a job with the Armed Forces of Malta.

The police were asked to intervene after Grima claimed that she had passed on Lm500 to Francis Mizzi, known as Il-Pluto, who told her he knew Mr Cutajar at the OPM who could help her find her boyfriend a job.

Following an appeal by the Attorney General, Mr Justice Joseph Galea Debono confirmed that Grima was not guilty of making false allegations about Mr Cutajar, but found her guilty of offending him, with the intent of tarnishing his reputation and fined her Lm100.
