The designer company Hugo Boss has won an intellectual property rights case against Ste Alkalloubi Ferre.

In its submissions, the Hugo Boss company said that a container at Malta Freeport was found to contain 23,682 items of merchandise that violated intellectual property rights.

The company therefore requested the court to declare the items to be in violation of trademark and to order their destruction with no compensation for the defendant company.

After studying the evidence, the court, presided over by Mr Justice Geoffrey Valenzia ruled in favour of the complainants and placed the burden of legal expenses on the defendants.
