Gift of Life said two more members of parliament have signed the petition calling for the unborn child to be expressly given the clear right to life through the constitution of Malta.

Dr Gavin Gulia and Perit Charles Buhagiar, both of the Malta Labour Party, have brought the total number of MPs who are calling for this amendment to 36.

This is eight signatures short of the 44 that make up the required two-thirds for entrenchment, should the government table a proposal.

By signing the petition, said Gift of Life, MPs continue to express publicly that they are clearly against abortion. Over 35,000 signatures have been received to date.
