From WPC 101 R. Grima
Reference is made to the article entitled “Reactions...” (TMIS, 1 April),
In our reply, published on pages 1 and 2 in The Malta Independent on Sunday on 25 March 2007, to the article “Man subdued by police ends up with broken leg” on the front page of The Malta Independent on Sunday on 18 March 2007, the Police Force never mentioned that “the man ran into the back garden and broke his leg” as was stated in the same article, but that “the Gozo Police immediately called on site managed to disarm the individual using the necessary minimal force”.
It must also be added that from investigations carried out, it resulted that this accident took place in the road, specifically in the area (ramp) in front of the man’s garage.

Editor’s note: It was the police officers on site who told people standing nearby that “the man ran into the back garden and broke his leg”.
