Those employees who are most qualified in national broadcasting would, under Labour, be used in the sector so that quality broadcasting would be delivered to the people who are paying for it, said MLP spokesperson for women’s rights and the public service Helena Dalli.

Ms Dalli said that instead of investing in the necessary technology so that the employees of the Public Broadcasting Services would have the tools required for their job, the government was still spending money on meaningless logos that cost thousands of liri but did not change anything as far as the contents of public broadcasting is concerned.

While PBS employees were not being given work for which they were trained and qualified, the PBS management was still awarding work to private contractors who have been given a monopoly in state broadcasting.

Ms Dalli said that last Sunday there had been a new format to the news broadcast, but nothing had changed in the substance. The newsroom of the national station still did not produce any current affairs programme, although there were employees who were qualified for this.
