A woman was assaulted and robbed as she was cleaning her house early yesterday morning in Zabbar, the police said.

The police said the woman, who was outside her house cleaning, was approached by two men, one of whom assaulted her and requested money.

The two robbers fled the scene with a considerable amount of cash.

The incident took place in Ghadiba Street, Zabbar.

The woman was taken to St Luke’s Hospital where she was treated for slight injuries. She is being kept under observation in hospital.

Duty Magistrate Giovanni Grixti, who was informed about the case, appointed several court experts to assist him in the inquiry.

Police investigations are still under way.
