Archbishop Mgr Paul Cremona, OP was given a warm welcome by hundreds of BOV employees when he paid an official visit to BOV’s head office in Sta Venera yesterday.

The Archbishop was greeted by bank chairman Roderick Chalmers and chief executive officer Tonio Depasquale and had a short private meeting in the boardroom with the bank’s board of directors and chief officers, during which Mr. Depasquale gave a short overview of the involvement of BOV in the community.

The Archbishop then celebrated Mass in the BOV Centre foyer, which was specially decorated for the occasion. Special permission was obtained to have the Ta’ Giezu cross, which was recently restored with the financial support of BOV, brought over to the BOV Centre.

At the end of the celebration, the two youngest BOV employees presented a commemorative gift to the Archbishop – a work of art by Maltese artist Charles Cassar entitled The greatest suffering. It depicts Our Lady holding the body of Jesus after the crucifixion.

After Mass, the Archbishop met informally with BOV employees.
