Reigning champions Neptunes commenced their 2007 season with a large win over the Malta Youths team. The latter are preparing so as to compete in the European Youth Championships between 8 and 15 September.

The Reds found no difficulty to impose their superiority and were already 14-0 ahead midway into the game.

Opportunist Steve Camilleri had a complete field day in this first official match of the 2007 season when he netted a total of 12 personal goals. This talented lad had already grabbed a double poker by the end of the second session while team-mates Michele Stellini and Niki Lanzon shared five between them with the former having the honour to be the first goal scorer of the season.

After the same Stellini registered his game's fourth goal, the Malta Youths managed to break the deadlock and scored two successive goals (through Jerome Gabaretta and a Ryan Mock penalty) to at least have the satisfaction to share the third session at par at two goals a piece.

However Neptunes netted a further six goals in the last session with Karl Galea grabbing an early brace and Camilleri ending his show with a further four goals, the last coming form a five metre penalty conversion.
