Speaker Meets Australian delegation

Speaker of the House of Representatives Anton Tabone has had talks with Australian Senate president Paul Calvert, and his accompanying delegation, who are leaving Malta today after a four-day visit.

The meeting focused on the strengthening of the existing friendly and close relationship between Malta and Australia, particularly the enhancement of relations between the parliamentary institutions of both countries.

Mr Calvert and his delegation underlined the importance of Malta’s strategic position in the Mediterranean and its role within the European Union. They stressed the importance of a stronger and closer economic and commercial relationship, which would be

beneficial to both sides.

Mr Jurek Juszczyk, the Australian High Commissioner in Malta, also attended the meeting.
