World Book and Copyright Day is being celebrated on Monday to give the importance due to books, UNESCO’s aim being to promote reading and copyright laws.
On that day the world lost through death the authors Cervantes, Shakespeare and Inca Garcilaso de la Vega. The day is also the birthday of Shakespeare, as well as Maurice Druon, Vladimir Nabokov and others.
There will be an innovative programme of activities at St James Cavalier that the public may attend free of charge. The Finance Ministry, through the National Lottery Good Causes Fund, is contributing Lm2,000 for the event.
