Two men were charged with defrauding a man of over Lm1,000 and to misappropriating the money.
John Sullivan, 60, from Sliema, and Angelo Zahra, 58, from Lija, pleaded not guilty to defrauding Joseph Bugeja on and before November 2006.
Police Inspector Maurice Curmi prosecuted while Dr Joseph Giglio appeared for the accused.
