Fish and Fish Company Limited has been ordered to pay a former employee nearly Lm1,200 in overtime.
Joseph Azzopardi filed a suit against Fish and Fish Company Limited in which he called on his former employer to pay him the Lm1,192 in overtime he was owed.
The court, presided over by Magistrate Silvio Meli, heard how Mr Azzopardi worked as a fisherman with the said company and as part of his job, he spent days at sea catching fish. He claimed that this involved long hours for which he was not being paid. He also kept note of the hours he worked and presented this as evidence in court.
The court heard how the company never contested owing Mr Azzopardi the said amount and therefore ordered Fish and Fish Ltd to pay Mr Azzopardi the money it owed him by way of overtime.
