Crackers: Hello Everyone

Malta Independent Thursday, 19 April 2007, 00:00 Last update: about 14 years ago

When in 1804 the English inventor Richard Trevithick introduced the steam locomotive, achieving a mere speed of 8km an hour, little did he imagine that over the years his invention would progress in fast trains that we know today which literally “fly” down the tracks at 552km an hour! Have you ever heard of the Bullet train, the TGV or ICE3? These are all names given to various trains over the years. Read more about this invention that has been with us for more than 200 years in our interesting article, High Speed Trains.

In the section From your noticeboard, the primary students from the Verdala International School of Pembroke share with us their experience when they animated two of Dr Seuss’s all-time favourite books The Foot Book and Mr Brown Can Moo! Can You?

Would you like to know more about the latest range of McDonald’s gifts? Then read more about their new range of toys that are awaiting you with their happy meals in the article The new McDonald’s happy meal toys.

I would like to congratulate all those who participated in the Magic Flute competition for their original drawings. A special well done goes to Daniel and Matthias who are the winners of two theatre tickets courtesy of the Manoel Theatre. We hope that you will enjoy the performance of Mozart’s The Magic Flute next Saturday.

See you next Thursday

Frances
