Labour leader Alfred Sant yesterday visited Lufthansa Technik as part of the MLP’s activities to mark Worker’s Day. He was shown around by chief executive officer Louis Giordimaina.

In comments to journalists after the visit, Dr Sant praised the high level of work carried out by the company, saying that there was a lot of potential for this industrial sector to grow.

Lufthansa Technik was set up in 2002 to carry out C-checks and modifications on Boeing and Airbus aircraft. It employs 160 full-timers and has 50 apprentices from MCAST.

Under an agreement signed earlier this month, the company announced a e55 million investment which will create 550 new jobs, setting up new maintenance, repair and overhaul facilities for wide-bodied aircraft.
