Mtarfa Primary gets new stock of library books

Malta Independent Thursday, 19 April 2007, 00:00 Last update: about 14 years ago

HSBC Cares For Children Fund (HCCF) is assisting Mtarfa Primary School to enlarge its existing library and extend library services to the Mtarfa community. Thanks to a sponsorship by the bank, the school is now able to purchase a new stock of attractive books for its lending library, for different age groups. The Reference Section will also be extended, for the benefit of both students and teachers.

“The administration at Mtarfa Primary wants to upgrade its existing library facilities not only for school purposes, but also for the benefit of the community. This year, the library served as a base where a group of parents received basic training as librarians. These parent helpers are now managing the library on a day-to-day basis, and utilising the good practice and hands-on training they have received,” said Marianne Cachia, Assistant Head of School while thanking HCCF for their help.

“HSBC Cares For Children Fund is always ready to support educational activities. More books in the school library means more opportunities for students to develop literacy skills in an informal manner,” said Richard Mercieca, HSBC Mosta Area Director.
