Maltapost did not want the General Workers’ Union to speak on behalf of workers who experienced difficulties, the union said in a statement yesterday.

This was evident in an issue regarding Maltapost’s decision not to pay overtime due to Central Mail Room employees who were on night shift duty.

This attitude was unacceptable to the union, and although it has tried to find a solution, the company did not want to change its stand.

This has pushed the union into ordering industrial action to protect the workers’ interests, the union said.
