It was thanks to the neighbours that Lucky Cat was saved from suffering a slow and cruel death.

During their daily feeding of the regular stray cats in a street in Birkirkara, the residents noticed that a ginger cat had been missing for nearly three weeks.

One day the faint meowing of a cat could be heard from the garage of a resident in the same road. Because of this, a couple of residents asked the owner of the garage if he had a cat locked up in there, to which he answered in the negative.

Later that day, a ginger cat was saved by a man when, terrified, it crawled out of the same garage after being hosed down by water and nearly got hit by a car.

Surrounded by angry and shocked residents, Lucky Cat was passed on to StreetCat Rescue of the Animal Welfare Centre, and taken to a vet, where it was found to be starved and dehydrated.

Lucky Cat is being fostered by a StreetCat Rescue Team member and slowly regaining its strength.

The Animal Welfare Centre is appealing for an animal lover to give a home to this tame, neutered, litter-trained beautiful male cat.
