Maltese player Thurston Grixti won his opening game against Maximilian Thurr of Austria by 3-0 (57-50, 59-14 and 66-37). Grixti compiled a break of 44 in the second frame which is the highest so far after the first four matches have been played.
In the other matches Luca Brecel of Belgium beat Alexander Gauss of Austria 3-0 (63-28, 53-42 and 71-24. Brecel compiled a break of 41 in the third frame.
Nicky Godeyne of Belgium beat Alexander Westholm of Sweden 3-0 (59-47, 72-2 and 59-30) while Darren Cook of England beat Bogdan Cosmaciuc (Romania) 3-0 ( 65-35, 51-12, 97-30). Cook compiled a break of 39 in the third frame.
The tournament is being held at Apple Snooker Club in Tourist Street, Bugibba.
