The Scout Association Inaugurates the Beaver Section

Malta Independent Sunday, 22 April 2007, 00:00 Last update: about 13 years ago

To celebrate the centenary of World Scouting, and on the eve of Malta’s very own Scouting centenary next year, the Scout Association of Malta has officially inaugurated the Beaver Section within the ranks of the Association.

The Beaver Section was launched by Chief Commissioner Godwin D’Anastasi during the Group Scout Leaders’ forum that was held at the association’s Island Headquarters earlier this month.

The Beaver section complements the Cub, Scout, Venture and Rover sections and sees the association’s recruitment age being lowered from seven to five years of age.

The Scout Association of Malta is presently having a special commemorative medal minted to mark its 100 years of Scouting next year.

The commemorative medal will feature the Association’s Scout emblem, suspended from a red and white ribbon to denote the Maltese colours. Both uniform and non-uniform adult members, as well as former scouting members, will be entitled to wear the 2008 commemorative medal.
