Thirteen individuals, of varying ages and from different localities, were detained on Saturday night by 1st Regiment AFM's C (Special Duties) Company during a number of vehicle checkpoints held in the southern and central part of Malta.

During these checkpoints, the apprehended individuals were found to be in possession of amounts of suspected cocaine, cannabis resin and ecstasy tablets.

Other searches by the AFM personnel also yielded a shotgun and cartridges as well as the carcass of a protected bird. Three cases of unlicensed vehicles were also caught.

All apprehended persons and items were handed over to Malta Police for further investigations
