Thursday, 10 May on TVM at 5pm, Friday, 11 May on E22 at 9pm (RPT), Sunday, 13 May on E22 at 10am (RPT) and Monday, 14 May on E22 at 2.30pm (RPT) will feature the following the subject of “GSSE Section – Shooting”.
One of the disciplines in which Malta will be participating in the forthcoming GSSE is shooting – a sport that has always brought success to our country, considering that over the years Malta has won three gold, five silver and four bronze medals. In this programme we will take an in-depth look at the air rifle and pistol category.
The featured event is the Commonwealth Games 2014 bid.
The bid team for the Glasgow 2014 Commonwealth Games is making its preparations and has made their local presentation. The delegation included the secretary-general of the Commonwealth Games Federation Ms Louise Martin. Glasgow is competing with Abuja (Nigeria) to win the right to stage the 2014 games.
Highlight Events – Rugby/ Gymnastics/Sportsfest 07
For the fourth consecutive year, the MRFU organised the Malta Rugby International Clubs Tournament, which started last Saturday. Four teams: the SEC Llanrumney RFC from Wales, the British Police RFC from the UK, the Tottonians RFC from England and the Tripoli Barbarians from Libya made the journey to Malta to take part in the competition.
Two teams in the form of Kavallieri Blue Label RFC and Spartans RFC represented local rugby, as the six teams battled it out over the weekend at the Marsa Rugby Grounds.
A competition was held on Sunday in two separate gymnasiums as part of the selection process for the gymnasts to represent Malta at the June GSSE. Find out more about this event by watching this programme.
On 3 May, St Benedict’s College, Kirkop organised a Sportsfest 07. This involved a number of activities that gave students a chance to try out athletics, basketball, baseball, table-tennis, rugby, soccer, penalty shoot out, swimming and volleyball. MOC Elite athletes Carol Walsh, Mario Bonello, Theresa Mallia and Frans Pace talked to the students about their experiences as athletes and emphasised the importance of sport.
